Meet Our Team
Dr. Brechin is originally from Birmingham, AL. After graduating from Shades Valley High School, he continued his education at Auburn University where he obtained his DVM degree in 1974. During his time at Auburn, he met and married his wife, Jo, an Auburn native.
After graduating from Veterinary School, Dr. Brechin practiced in Jacksonville, Fl and Nashville, Tn before being led to open his own practice in Destin. Since opening Destin Animal Clinic, Dr. Brechin has been active in the community through various organizations: Lions Club, Destin United Methodist Church, Destin Fishing Rodeo (Chairman), Chamber of Commerce (President), and Rotary Club. Professionally, Dr. Brechin was the founding member of the Miracle Strip Veterinary Medical Society and served as its first President. Additionally he has been active at the state association level serving on the Finance Committee and is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Florida Veterinary Medical Association.
Personally, he and his wife have 2 daughters: Mandi and Leslie. Additionally, the family contains 2 dogs a Bull Mastiff (Zoe), a greyhound (Gabby), and an aquarium full of African Cichlids.
Courtney has been a part of our staff since July of 2006. She is currently a student at NWFSC. Courtney also assists the doctors in prepping surgeries and monitoring pets under anesthesia, performing dental cleanings, laboratory analysis, taking radiographs, and client communication. At home she cares for two miniature dachshunds, Porsche and Mazerati, a pit bull, Axle, and the sweetest cat, Halo, who was a rescue from Alaqua Animal Refuge. Courtney enjoys going to the beach.
Christina has been a part of our staff since August of 2007. She is proficient with laboratory analysis, assisting the doctors in appointments, taking radiographs, and the administration of medication and treatments to the hospitalized patients. Aside from work, her and her husband have two loving miniature dachshunds, Danzig and Rubi. She enjoys aerial silks and reading in her spare time.
Stephine has been a part of our staff since January of 2012. She is currently enrolled in NWFSC to pursue a career in Radiology. She assists the doctors in appointments, taking radiographs, as well as administering medications and carrying out treatments for the boarded or hospitalized patients. Her and her husband have a loving Basset Hound, Porkchop, and a cat named Ninja. In her spare time she enjoys going to the beach and baking.
